Nutty Dread - Madness

Introduction

Nutty Dread, released in 1992, is of a Madness concert recorded live in London on 2nd March 1983. The front cover has pictures of the band on, which look remarkably similar to those on the front of Madstock from 1992, so may well be dodgy, but I'm not entirely sure. All I can tell you is that it was distributed by CD Music Co. s.r.l. Italy, which probably makes it even more likely to be unofficial.

Sleeve Notes

Whilst punk rock had England in it's nice like grip during the late seventies, in the backstreets of North London, something very strange was going on.

A gang of local skinheads and yobs had turned their backs on punk and instead formed a band who were fuelled by the up-tempo sound of blue beat and ska. After a period of playing under the name "The North London Invaders", the group decided to change to a shorter, more catchy moniker, one, in fact that easily summed up their state of mind at that time, as well as their music, Madness. Riding on the wave of the two-tone boom in the early eighties, Madness were soon to prove to be one of the best british groups to emerge in recent years. The great British pop single was back and Madness continued to set the charts alight with hit after hit, each complimented by a hilarious video which put the fun back into music. After taking the band as far as it could go, they decided to call it a day in the mid eighties, but not before leaving behind one of the most impressive back catalogues of singles since the Beatles.

THIS IS FUN, THIS IS POP, THIS IS MADNESS. - Professor Stone
